Instagram is closing its API access
As of December 4th, 2024, changes to Instagram’s API will mean that My Social Book (and every other photo book services) will no longer be able to create photo books directly from Instagram. This shift is due to new restrictions in how third-party services like ours can access Instagram content, impacting all companies that work with Instagram photos.
We know that many of you love our Instagram photo books, and we’re dedicated to helping you capture and preserve your favorite moments. Here are some alternative options and recommendations to continue creating beautiful photo books with My Social Book!
1. Create Your Instagram Book Before December 4th, 2024
If you've been thinking about printing an Instagram photo book, now is the time! Complete your book before December 4th, and ensure you can capture all those beautiful memories in print.
2. Share on Facebook When Posting to Instagram
Since we can still access Facebook content, an easy way to continue preserving your Instagram photos is to toggle the “Share to Facebook” option when posting. This ensures your photos are available on Facebook, allowing you to create a book that includes both Facebook and shared Instagram photos.
3. Use Google Photos for Future Albums
Another great way to preserve your images is by saving them to Google Photos. Whenever you post a picture on Instagram, a copy is created on your phone. If you choose to back up your Instagram images on Google Photos, you’ll still be able to use these in your My Social Book. Just upload your Instagram photos to Google Photos, and we’ll take care of the rest!
*In this case, please, be aware that only photos will be uploaded. To have the captions included, you'll have to add them manually directly on your Google Photos interface.
4. Manually Download & Upload Photos
For those looking to print specific moments, consider downloading your Instagram photos and uploading them manually to Google Photos. This way, you can continue to capture your favorite memories and create beautiful custom photo books.
You can use third-party apps or online services to download photos, such as “InstaSave” or “DownloadGram,” by copying the post link.
Note: Be cautious when using third-party apps to download Instagram images, as not all of them are secure. Do so at your own risk.
5. Future-Proofing Your Memories
Moving forward, we recommend sharing your photos across platforms like Facebook and Google Photos. This will allow you to capture those memories with My Social Book as a Facebook book or a Google Photos book.
Thank you for your understanding and loyalty. We’re here to support you in preserving your memories however we can, and we’re committed to continually finding ways to help you capture your life in print.
